The older, historic element of Vancouver’s Lower East Side is home to the Gastown Steam Clock – a vintage clock which runs on steam. As Carla216 notes, this photo IS kind of timeless. Check out Carla’s wonderful edit below. Thanks for That title!

I love old, historic photos and this one, while not turn of the century, gives a great nostalgic feel. Love it! Hope all’s well btw Mike …

Seen on your photo stream. (?)
Tha-anks. Me too! Hope you and yours are well!
I have a lot to be grateful for. Seen folks worse off than me.
Best Wishes!
whoa….both of these photos are amazing.
where are the teeming masses of tourists?
Thanks So Much Carla216 . . .
and Becky Lou, Too!
The tourists? Ah . . . . good question, Knitgirl!
I took this pretty early in the morning, I believe.
‘Blue Collar Guy’ on the left was heading to the cafe
for a coffee, it looked like at the time.
This was taken between Christmas and New Year
sooo . . . maybe the tourists were at Woodwards
shopping for bargains?
I should mention that Carla216 really impressed me
with her work here and that I have made sure that she
knows how grateful and appreciative I feel about her work.
I hope that your weather has settled down.
Thanks so much for your visit and comments!
Best to you and yours, Knitgirl!
Mikey, thanks for joining "The Mechanical Age", that`s what I meant. Great Picture, with a historic value! Incredible clock!
Thank you so much! I catch on eventually
though sometimes . . . .
‘the wheels turn slowly’ upstairs!
Hunting for the right groups for
each photo and receiving feedback s
uch as yours is
so gratifying and fun!
Cheers! Best to you and yours!
Thanks Projer!
There’s a Starbucks now in the old hot dog place….
They are everywhere!
In Ottawa, we are seeing
the spread of these mega-corp
coffee shops also.
I just heard the Sunday morning news.
‘Over 40 cm of snow expected for
Vancouver Island’!
Severe weather warning.
Be safe.
Thanks.
Cheers!
Yes, Campbell River (on Vancouver Island) got 30 cm I heard, which is apparently unprecedented! Here in Vancouver we got just a sprinkling and it’s now raining like mad. Thanks
Please drive safely.
Best to you and yours.
Cheers!
Merci Jean Charles pour votre visite!
Bonne Annee 2008!

Mikey! I JUST NOW discovered this! What a grand shot! I had always wished that I had gotten a better shot that short time I was there.

That is pretty cool, Fred! Thanks for showing that. You sure get around! I see lots of greens that remind me of rust on copper or verdigris (cupric oxide). Inspiring stuff, Sir! Many Thanks & Best Wishes to You & Yours, F! Peace.
I know the color! It’s like the older sections of the Parliament Building roof.
Yes, exactly! Thanks & Best wishes, Fred! Peace.
